This 9th Anniversary newsletter includes event announcements, member papers and essays as well as recent research and news about 9/11/01.  Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice now has over 850 members and is continuing to grow every day with increasing numbers of people signing onto the challenges to the official story of 9/11/01.

Today, nine years after the attacks, people all over the world continue to not only discover, research, and discuss the challenges to the official story of the events that day, but importantly, to organize, strategize, create and spread media, speak out on street corners and in banners, to keep the questions alive.  We hope that keeping you informed about recent news and developments will inspire you, too, to take action.

We need to continue to seek the truth about 9/11

Over the past three years, a group of concerned Bloomington citizens has worked to raise the public consciousness about the need for 9/11 truth. These folks are sometimes called “conspiracy theorists” because they do not believe the official version of events. Once people get by their initial reactions to 9/11 questioning, however, much can be learned in the process.  To begin with, we all understand the definition of a conspiracy to be a secret plan, among two or more people, to commit a crime. Yet when faced with emotionally charged events like 9/11, many of us pretend that the definition of the word has changed.

‘The fictional basis for the war on terror’

Most people recognize that the events of 9/11 were the driving force behind the “War on Terror.” Less well recognized is the fact that this borderless war against an ill-defined enemy has expedited economic collapse, driven totalitarian legislation and generated a great deal of animosity against the United States throughout the world. The pain and suffering caused by 9/11 comes with an opportunity, however. Through a better understanding of those tragic events, we can achieve crucial insights that can not only end the wars but might ultimately lead to lasting positive change in human society.

Berlet convolutes historical context, ideological differences, and progressives vis-à-vis extreme conservative, neo-con, libertarians in a diatribe of meaninglessness.

c) Niels Harrit & Richard Gage, AIA, in Radio Debate

9/11 Debate

Richard Gage, from Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, and Dave Thomas  a physicist from New Mexicans for Science and Reason, joined Ian Punnett for the entire Coast-to-Coast program to debate how the World Trade Center buildings collapsed on September 11, 2001.  Physicist Kim Johnson and chemist Niels Harrit joined the discussion in hour three.

9/11 Truth News is intended to be an accessible and factually oriented first reference for those curious about 9/11 truth. Our movement must serve its audience and this site was created for that purpose.  The key to effectively serving this purpose is our strategy. That starts with the site being solely related to 9/11 truth and edited by four longtime movement activists. With a good deal of thought about who we need to reach and the obstacles that stand in the way of reaching them, the editors of 911truthnews.com will be publishing only that which we believe to be the best this movement has to offer.

1. ‘Clocking WTC7‘ is a graphic representation of the 5.4 second interval NIST originally used to deny freefall, before they re-interpreted the 5.4 second interval to include an unexplained 2.25 second period of absolute freefall.

2. What a Gravity-Driven Demolition Looks Like I have completed a video showing the analysis of the Balzac-Vitry controlled demolition that used hydrolics rather than explosives to initiate a total demolition. This analysis shows deceleration upon collision, as predicted in the paper, “The Missing Jolt: A Simple Refutation of the NIST-Bazant Collapse Hypothesis,” by Graeme MacQueen and Tony Szamboti. It also illustrates the symmetry of destruction, contrary to the “crush down” followed by “crush up” scenario propounded by Zdenek Bazant.

The laws of gravity – so absent from the NIST report – will take care of the rest.  So began the Civil Rights Movement. It did not begin with Martin Luther King. A great man did not appear from on high and lead the masses to victory. It began with regular people getting off the couch, getting together and standing up for truth and justice.

It has been reported that there was a “simulations team” working at NEADS the morning of September 11.  Was this team putting out the false tracks? If so, who were its members?

The International Center for 9/11 Studies has secured the release of hundreds of hours of video footage and tens of thousands of photographs used by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for its investigation of the collapse of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and Building 7. This material is being released to the Center under the Freedom of Information Act, in response to a lawsuit the Center filed against NIST. We are currently looking at the best ways to distribute these materials to interested researchers and journalists around the world.

b) 9/11 Museum: “Every Artifact is Evidence of Destruction”

The way that 9/11 is remembered will soon be transformed.  Located beneath a maze of construction at Ground Zero, the National September 11 Memorial Museum is taking shape and has made significant progress. Members of the media took a tour of the cavernous, 120,000-square-foot museum site on Tuesday.  The museum opening is slated for Sept. 11, 2012. Museum officials expect it to become one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations, drawing as many as seven million visitors a year.

d) Southern Poverty Law Center Attacks 9/11 Truth Movement

Russian TV Channel Pushes ‘Patriot’ Conspiracy Theories

At the time of the last anniversary of Sept. 11, the channel published a four-part series on its website titled  ”911 Reasons why 9/11 was (probably) an inside job.” The articles, by Russia Today commentator Robert Bridge, report uncritically on discredited notions about Sept. 11, including the possibility that a bomb inside the towers contributed to their collapse and that the CIA had advance knowledge of the attack. On March 10, one of Russia Today’s top stories was headlined “Americans continue to fight for 9/11 truth.” That story, about a Pennsylvania gathering of Sept. 11 truthers, reported incorrectly that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) listed Rudkowski’s We Are Change as a hate group along with the Ku Klux Klan. In the weeks and months after the attacks, a subculture of “9/11 Truthism” emerged in which the attacks were seen as anything but a simple case of well-trained Al Qaeda operatives flying planes into landmark buildings. Instead, “truthers” argued that the World Trade Center buildings were destroyed by controlled demolitions, that a missile brought down United Airlines 93, and that a missile — and not an airliner at all — struck the Pentagon. From their point of view, of course, there’s nothing terribly offensive about putting a Mosque at Ground Zero because, after all, the Muslims and al Qaeda had nothing to do with 9/11. Instead it was George Bush, Dick Cheney, the CIA, the Mossad, the Council of Foreign Relations and whoever else was hanging out behind the conspiratorial curtain.

A new report released by a think tank called Demos warns of the hazardous effects of conspiracy theories on society and recommends strategies for governments to mitigate these effects, including the infiltration of websites. The report, called The Power of Unreason: Conspiracy Theories, Extremism and Counterterrorism, says “most notoriously and influentially, the ‘9/11 truth movement’ has questioned the official accounts of 9/11 and has become a large and growing political force.”

h) Review of the new Brett Smith film, Hypothesis

The film contains some priceless exchanges and interviews with random students and the administration officials at BYU, which are enlightening, frightening, and humorous. Most impressive are the interviews with Dr. Jones’s scientific collaborator Dr. Jeffrey Farrer, as well as views of the lab and their experiments. There is an excellent clip documenting the circumstances of the gathering of the first dust sample that Dr. Jones and Dr. Farrer examined together.  The most dramatic, surprising, and damning interview, however, was with the man, C. Martin Hinckley, who first threatened Jones and then tried to bribe him to stop his research on the evidence of explosives. His threats in fact materialize later in the media attacks and the administrative leave that ended Professor Jones’s teaching career at BYU.

FOIA Lawsuit: Thousands of NIST 9/11 Photos, Videos Released

The International Center for 9/11 Studies has secured the release of hundreds of hours of video footage and tens of thousands of photographs used by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for its investigation of the collapse of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and Building 7. This material is being released to the Center under the Freedom of Information Act, in response to a lawsuit the Center filed against NIST.

The Center filed a FOIA Request with NIST on January 26, 2009, seeking production of “all of the photographs and videos collected, reviewed, cited or in any other way used by NIST during its investigation of the World Trade Center building collapses.” Following several unsuccessful attempts to get NIST to even acknowledge receipt of the Request, the Center was forced to file a lawsuit on May 28, 2009. Shortly after the lawsuit was filed, the Request was assigned a reference number, and NIST began periodically releasing batches of responsive records. To date, the Center has received over 300 DVDs and several external hard disk drives that contain responsive records – more than 3 terabytes of data so far – and NIST has indicated that additional records will be released in the future.

We are currently looking at the best ways to distribute these materials to interested researchers and journalists around the world. It has taken NIST more than 8 months so far to produce a partial archive of photographs and videos in their possession, but we hope to be more efficient in our efforts. Because of the huge volume of data, we are working on a wiki-style website to facilitate review and discussion of any interesting items that are discovered by researchers.

Justin Keogh, our Chief Technical Officer, is preparing the website and materials for release. The first batch of materials we are releasing is a group of video clips sent to us on an external hard disk drive labeled “NIST WTC Investigation Cumulus Video Clips.” We believe NIST entered these clips into a searchable database called the Cumulus database, and used them as the basis for the investigation and reports. Researchers may be interested to see which video clips NIST determined were important to its investigation, and compare these clips to the raw footage we release at a later date. Justin will be posting more details about the data release in the next week or two. Although the Center has extremely limited resources with which it can review this mountain of data, several interesting items have already been discovered. Below are five items the Center has uncovered so far. The items below have not been altered from the original provided by NIST, except in three cases where a short section of footage was extracted from a much longer video. Otherwise, no alterations have been made to the video or audio. For the best viewing experience, you should watch all of the videos below in the highest resolution available. We will supplement the list below in the coming days and weeks.

We Need to Continue to Seek the Truth About 9/11

Over the past three years, a group of concerned Bloomington citizens has worked to raise the public consciousness about the need for 9/11 truth. These folks are sometimes called “conspiracy theorists” because they do not believe the official version of events. Once people get by their initial reactions to 9/11 questioning, however, much can be learned in the process.

To begin with, we all understand the definition of a conspiracy to be a secret plan, among two or more people, to commit a crime. Yet when faced with emotionally charged events like 9/11, many of us pretend that the definition of the word has changed.

It is certain that unless you believe these crimes were committed by one person acting alone, you believe in a 9/11 conspiracy. But people today have been trained to use the word to mean only a small subset of conspiracies enacted by powerful people, like government officials.

Richard Gage, AIA & Dr. Niels Harrit to Debate Physicists Dave Thomas & Kim Johnson

A highly anticipated debate between two members of Architects and Engineers for 9-11 Truth and two physicists is scheduled for Saturday, August 21st, 2010. The debate will air on the popular late night talk show Coast to Coast AM with host Ian Punnett between 10pm – 2am Pacific time.

Richard Gage, AIA, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9-11 Truth and an architect for over twenty years, will be joined by Danish scientist, Niels Harrit, Associate Professor at University of Copenhagen—a chemist and university teacher with expertise in organic chemistry, photochemistry, fluorescence, and nanotechnology.

Challenging Gage and Harrit’s contention that explosives were responsible for the buildings’ destruction will be mathematician and physicist Dave Thomas from a group called New Mexicans for Science and Reason (NMSR).  Thomas, a Fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, publisher of Skeptical Inquirer magazine, will be joined by his associate, industrial physicist Kim Johnson, also on the Board of NMSR and past president of the New Mexico Academy of Science.

It has been over a year since the most recent peer-reviewed scientific article was published on the finding of energetic materials in the WTC dust.  During this time, the article was personally delivered to members of Congress and others in positions of power. Some of those leaders, like 9/11 Commission co-chairman Lee Hamilton, have repeatedly declined invitations to discuss the evidence. But ultimately, there has been no official response by the U.S. government, and we have seen only apathy or feigned ignorance in response to these explosive findings. In the last few months, however, one of the people who did the most to cover-up the crimes of 9/11 has surfaced again, and is requesting samples.

At 5:21 PM on 9/11, Building 7 of the World Trade Center collapsed, even though it had not been hit by a plane – a fact that is important because of the widespread acceptance of the idea, in spite of its scientific absurdity, that the Twin Towers collapsed because of the combined effect of the impact of the airliners plus the ensuing jet-fuel-fed fires. The collapse of World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7) thereby challenges the official account of the destruction of the World Trade Center, according to which it was accomplished by al-Qaeda hijackers, even if one accepts the government’s scientifically impossible account of the Twin Towers. This fact was recently emphasized in the title of a review article based on my 2009 book, The Mysterious Collapse of World Trade Center 7,¹ by National Medal of Science-winner Lynn Margulis: “Two Hit, Three Down – The Biggest Lie.”²

New Research on State Crimes Against Democracy

Credible scientific evidence brings into question the possibility that some aspects of the events of 9/11 involved State Crimes Against Democracy. Psychologically, this is a very hard concept for Americans to even consider. However, ignoring the issue in the context of multiple proven SCADs since World War II seems far more dangerous for democracy than the consequences of future scientific inquiry and transparent, fact-based investigative reporting. Anything short of complete, open discourse based on all the evidence about these critical issues in our society relating to the possible continuation of SCADs is simply a matter of censorship.

d) Professor Niels Harrit in Scientific Debate on WTC Building 7

One Tower, Two Views
On March 10th at Copenhagen University, in a debate arranged by the Danish newspaper Politiken and Copenhagen University, titled, “One Tower – Two Views”, Dr. Niels Harrit and Prof. of Physics at the Niels Bohr Institute of Copenhagen University, Per Hedegaard, debated the science of 9/11, with the WTC7 collapse as pivotal subject.  Each had 20 minutes of solo presentation on the WTC7 collapse, followed by a debate between the two professors with questions from the audience.  This is the first live presentation and debate in a scientific forum ever in Denmark.  Unfortunately no recording was allowed, but it received some coverage in the Danish media.

9/11 cover up or crazy conspiracy

This Wednesday in Copenhagen, nine years later, a crowd had turned up to watch Lecturer Niels Harrit and Professor Per Hedegård debate its collapse.  While Harrit argued that it must have been a deliberate controlled demolition that has been covered up, his opponent Hedegård countered that this is an absurd conspiracy theory.

No opinions, no speculation, no nonsense. I did not expect you to put down your Trotsky in favor of becoming a “Truther,” but I did hope that your modified understanding of how domestic covert operations are done in the U.S. might better inform your writings.

Morgan and Merrill Lynch issued in the days before the terrorist attacks was at an unusually high level. The realized gains from such trading strategies are around $11 million.”

This week, ABC’s Nightline televised an excerpt from an interview with Lee Hamilton, former vice chairman of the 9/11 Commission. The purpose of the interview excerpt was to suggest that those who produced the official reports of what heppened on 9/11 are willing to openly examine all evidence related to those crimes. Since I’ve met with Mr. Hamilton privately before, I exchanged a few messages with him to follow-up on my previous attempts to get him to examine the evidence in a public forum.  Due to the critical nature of this question, I’m posting the exchanges here for the record.

d) Washington Post Attempts Smear of Japanese Leader Who Questions Official Story

A leading Japanese politician espouses a 9/11 fantasy

Mr. Fujita’s ideas about the attack on the World Trade Center, which he shared with us in a recent interview, are too bizarre, half-baked and intellectually bogus to merit serious discussion. He questions whether it was really the work of terrorists; suggests that shadowy forces with advance knowledge of the plot played the stock market to profit from it; peddles the fantastic idea that eight of the 19 hijackers are alive and well; and hints that controlled demolition rather than fire or debris may be a more likely explanation for at least the collapse of the building at 7 World Trade Center, which was adjacent to the twin towers.

An interview that ran off the track

After the interview ended and Hockstader closed his laptop, he mentioned that he had noticed from my resume that I had raised the issue of the 9/11 terror attacks in a Diet committee and asked whether I had some doubts about this issue. In response, I explained the circumstances that had led me to become involved in the 9/11 issue and pointed out a number of points that remained unexplained about the events of that day. I assumed that this question was separate from the interview just ended.

i) Rowley Says She Was “Minded” During 9/11 Testimony

Colleen Rowley: Minders Ensured She Didn’t Say Anything About 9/11 the FBI Didn’t WANT Told, Even to Government Officials With Top Security Clearance
Rowley said that in her testimony to the Joint Intelligence Committee regarding 9/11, she was “minded”.  Specifically, she said that “FBI minders” listened to her every word, to trail her and make sure that she didn’t tell government personnel with top secret clearance even higher than her own anything which the FBI did not want to be told.  While this might sound fantastic, it is nothing new.  Rowley said the same had happened to Daniel Ellsberg went to members of Congress with the Pentagon papers.

Host an Event

Please consider hosting an event featuring members of STJ911 to present a scientific argument of truth of the attacks on 9/11/01. Hosting an event may seem like a daunting task but can be tremendously rewarding both for a local 9/11 group and its community, as well as the movement itself. Several events in 2006 and 2007 were extremely successful and focused on science, were held on university campuses and garnered important news coverage (see: http://stj911.org/events.html). Those who have hosted events involving Scholars members would be glad to give pointers and recommendations for your event. Campuses are one of the best locations for credible educational events.

Participate in the Information War Online

While the mainstream media typically refuses to cover the unanswered questions of 9/11/01, or simply present ad hominem-filled diatribes, dozens of discussion forums all over the Internet are raging in an information war to keep the facts away from the public or distort the ones already available. If you enjoy debate and discussion and are online often, we urge you to get involved on forums and post links and strong arguments to make the case for our work. Many debates are time-wasting, but some are worthwhile, so choose how to spend your time best. Always include links to your favorite websites when you post, using phrases that people are likely to search for in the visible text of your link. This helps the search engine ranking of the page you are linking to.

Participate in the Information War Offline

Letters to the editor, calls to radio shows, emails to representatives, and roadside actions are some of the most important work we can engage in because we take our message directly to the public and our public officials. A single banner on a multi-lane highway for just minutes can be read by thousands of individuals who never get online at all. Participate in an action, letter or call-in and report back on a discussion forum, ours or any of the others.

In a sad commentary on the currently disintegrating state of “main stream media”, I found myself ambushed on Saturday, March 6th, just ten minutes after I arrived at a conference outside Philadelphia on “9-11, the Wars and Our Broken Constitution”.

When young, smiling female producer Katie Hinman identified herself as being with ABC and asked for an interview, I had only just arrived at the conference.
